A delightful, make-ahead breakfast casserole made with layers of French bread soaked in a cinnamon-spiced custard, topped with a crunchy cinnamon-sugar topping. Perfect for lazy mornings!

- 1 1/2 sticks butter softened
- 1 cup light brown sugar packed
- 1 tablespoon light corn syrup optional
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Grease a 9×13” baking dish.
Slice bread into 1-inch thick pieces. Layer them in the dish, overlapping slightly.
In a bowl, whisk together eggs, half-and-half, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
Pour the mixture over the bread, coating all slices.
Spoon between slices. Cover and chill overnight.
Preheat oven to 350°F. Flip bread slices for even soaking.
Mix topping ingredients in a bowl.
