The Classic Paloma Cocktail is bright, citrusy, and refreshingly bubbly—perfect for warm days or anytime you want a light and zesty tequila-based drink. Made with fresh grapefruit juice, lime, and a splash of soda, it’s a Mexican classic that’s incredibly easy to make and endlessly satisfying.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt or Tajín for rimming
  • 1 grapefruit wedge
  • 2 oz tequila blanco
  • oz fresh grapefruit juice
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice from 1 large lime
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • 2 oz grapefruit soda like Squirt or Jarritos

Instructions
 

  • Rub the rim of a highball or rocks glass with a grapefruit wedge.
  • Dip into salt or Tajín to coat. Fill with ice.
  • In a shaker, combine tequila, grapefruit juice, lime juice, and bitters.
  • Add ice and shake for 20 seconds.
  • Strain into the prepared glass.
  • Top with grapefruit soda and stir gently.

Notes

  • For a stronger drink, reduce soda to 1 oz.
  • Use pink or ruby red grapefruit for a sweeter variation.
  • Jarritos and Squirt are the most authentic grapefruit soda choices.
  • If you prefer less sweetness, use sparkling water with a pinch of sugar instead of soda.
